Artist Bio

Genea Morrow

Genea Morrow is a self-taught artist and creative entrepreneur based in Seattle. Her interest in art began in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2021 when Genea launched Black Omi Art Co. Though her journey wasn’t always easy, she often opens up about her struggles with imposter syndrome and how she continuously works on her insecurities surrounding her late start to painting

As the founder of Sensual Sessions Paint and Sips, she has redefined the traditional paint and sip experience, infusing it with sensuality, empowerment, and artistic expression. With her desire to share her vision with a broader audience, Genea is working on expanding  Sensual Sessions Paint and Sips to more cities. Currently, we hold sessions in Pioneer Square and Lynnwood, Wa.

In addition to her work with Sensual Sessions, Genea continues to create and exhibit her own artwork. She now creates paintings that tell her story, a story heavily influenced by her history with religion and spirituality, which is often overshadowed by her exploration of her sensuality. Her pieces have been featured in galleries and exhibitions across the country, earning recognition for their depth, beauty, and emotional resonance.

Artist Statement

I rely solely on the impact of the dance between light and shadows. Without their final display, my world, thus my art, would be flat. Taking note of how each light change can accentuate different body areas has become my favorite pastime because, with each change, a different story develops. Drawing inspiration from the very being that I am, the female form is an art form to be celebrated. As an artist, I am drawn to the profound beauty and infinite complexity of the female body. Through my work, I strive to celebrate and promote body positivity by challenging societal norms and embracing the diverse forms that women embody. Our bodies, in all its shapes and sizes, serves as a powerful canvas for expressing the richness of human experience and emotion

To see my art is to see the battle between feminine and masculine energies, light and dark. I am learning the differences between a submissive and dominant core and how they often can battle within a female, within me. I paint to invoke a feeling of familiarity, power, and freedom. Each piece I create uses symbolism, whether in color choice, object placement, or form development, to give a new voice to the battles within. All of my work is heavily influenced by my history with religion, overshadowed by my exploration of my sensuality and my overall love for taking a blank canvas and turning it into something worth talking about.
