Coronis Betrayal

$600.00

This artwork captures a pivotal moment in Greek mythology, revolving around the tale of betrayal in Apollo's love life. The narrative unfolds as one of Apollo's lovers betrays him by seeking affection elsewhere. In response, Apollo dispatches a once-white raven as a messenger bird to spy on Coronis. However, upon learning of her infidelity, Apollo's rage is so intense that he sets the raven ablaze, permanently darkening its feathers—a transformation reflected in ravens today.

This piece aims to depict the raven's return to Coronis, conveying a forewarning of Apollo's wrath. Unaware of the impending storm, Coronis luxuriates in the afterglow of her liaison, oblivious to the shifting atmosphere and imminent perils surrounding her.
